One of the hot destinations for former Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts to end up in his time in the transfer portal was Maryland, following former Alabama offensive coordinator Mike Locksley up north. While Hurts ultimately chose Oklahoma, that left Maryland needing a quarterback after Kasim Hill put his name in the transfer portal as well. The only option would be former Clay-Chalkville great Ty Pigrome who has started a few games for the Terps, but would be the only legitimate option and has suffered injuries during his time at Maryland.
Now, Pigrome has some competition as former Virginia Tech quarterback Josh Jackson has committed to play for Maryland after finishing his degree this spring and transferring, therefore making him eligible to play in 2019.
Jackson threw for 2,991 yards and 20 touchdowns during his redshirt freshman year with the Hokes in 2017, but broke his fibula last year and announced his plans to leave Virginia Tech after the season.
